Large Cash Settlement Received for Property Seized from Drug Arrest

muhlL sheriff 300GREENVILLE, Ky. (4/25/14) — An investigation by Muhlenberg County Sheriff Det. Troy Gibson, who is assigned to the Pennyrile Narcotics Task Force, has led to a settlement of a large sum of money for property seized during a drug bust.

According to a Muhlenberg Sheriff's report, the investigation Gibson started in 2013 resulted in the seizure of property from Mitchell A. Latham of Bethel Lane, Greenville. A search warrant that was executed at Latham's residence Jan. 3, 2014, resulted in the discovery of controlled substances including methamphetamine, prescription medications in an unapproved container, drug paraphernalia and weapons.

Officers returned to the residence April 10 with another warrant that resulted in the seizure of crystal methamphetamine. As a result, a lien was placed on the property located at 340 Bethel Lane along with two of Latham's vehicles.

In lieu of the property, a settlement was reached for $53,000.

Central City Police Det. Wade Shoemaker, assigned to the DESI/Pennyrile Narcotics Task Force, assisted in the investigation.
