KSP Participates in Nationwide Operation Airbrake Campaign

ksp2 logo 300HENDERSON, Ky. (5/8/14) — The Kentucky State Police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division Region 1 participated in a national commercial vehicle brake safety campaign, Wednesday, May 7, 2014.

Statistics show that about 50 percent of all safety violations found result from the braking systems on commercial vehicles. In an effort to reduce traffic accidents and improve highway safety in the Commonwealth, Kentucky State Police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Officers in Region 1 conducted 95 safety inspections on commercial vehicles.

Each safety inspection consist of a thorough check of not only brake system components but all safety related aspects of the vehicle. At the conclusion of the safety campaign over 130 critical safety violations were discovered operating on Kentucky roadways, in addition KSP-CVE also apprehended 2 fugitives throughout the course of the campaign. The Kentucky State Police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division feels that the campaign was a complete success in keeping citizens traveling Kentucky’s roadways safer.

Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Region 1 serves the following counties: Ballard, Carlisle, Fulton, Graves, Hickman, Livingston, Lyon, McCracken, Marshall, Trigg, Caldwell, Calloway, Christian, Crittenden, Hopkins, Muhlenberg, Todd, Webster, Daviess, Hancock, Henderson, McLean, Ohio and Union.
