ORIGINAL

MUHLENBERG COUNTY, Ky. (6/27/14) — A contractor for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet plans to start base repairs along US 62 and US 431 in Muhlenberg County today.

The repairs will be followed by asphalt paving in about a week.

The project runs along US 62/Greenville Road from mile point 0.303 at the Pond River Bridge and extends east to mile point 8.78 at the Kentucky 189 intersection, a distance of 8.47 miles.

The project runs along US 431/Drakesboro-Dunmor Road from mile point 6.599 near Kentucky 2270 and extends north to mile point 11.467 at the Kentucky 176 intersection, a distance of 4.868 miles.

A crew will be performing base repairs at various locations for about two days. Once completed, traffic will be allowed to run on the repaired areas for about week to allow them to settle properly. The contractor will then return to these locations for asphalt paving.

Motorists should be alert for one lane traffic with alternating flow controlled by flaggers. Appropriate caution is required where equipment, flaggers, and construction personnel are along the roadway in close proximity to traffic flow.

Road Builders is the prime contractor on this $1.59 million in highway improvement work. The work is expected to take about 2 to 3 weeks to complete, weather permitting.
