General Arrest 09 orange 300HENDERSON, Ky. (7/7/14) — Troopers with Kentucky State Police Post 16 Henderson were conducting a Traffic Safety Checkpoint on U S Highway 60 East and Ernest Lane when Trooper Shane Settle observed a Mercury Grand Marquis turn around on US Highway 60 East.

The vehicle, driven by Jason Brown, a 44 year-old resident of Henderson, Ky., attempted to avoid traveling through the checkpoint.

Trooper Settle tried to stop the fleeing vehicle driven by BrownBrown turned onto Tillman-Bethel and after several miles Brown turned around and traveled back towards US Highway 60 East. Brown struck a patrol vehicle on the passenger side as the Trooper attempted to avoid a head-on collison with Brown.

Brown was not disabled after the collision. Brown then accelerated and forced two other units off the roadway. Both units were forced off the roadway to avoid head-on collision. Brown then lost control of his vehicle and traveled off the roadway striking a tree on the left shoulder of the roadway coming to a stop.

Brown was then apprehended and taken into custody. No one was injured during the incident.

Brown was charged with Speeding 26 Over the Limit, Fleeing and Evading Police First Degree (Motor Vehicle), Reckless Driving, Wanton Endangerment First Degree (Police Officer), Wanton Endangerment First, Assault Second Degree (Police Officer), Operating Motor Vehicle Under Influence Alcohol/Drugs/Etc. .08 (Aggravated Circumstance) Fourth, Driving DUI Suspended License Second Offense (Aggravated Circumstance), Possession of Marijuana, Drug Paraphernalia- Buy/Possess,  Failure of Owner to Maintain Required Insurance First Offense, Resisting Arrest, Possession of Open Alcohol Beverage Container in Motor Vehicle Prohibited, Failure to or Improper Signal, Disregarding of Stop Sign, and Failure to Wear Seat Belt.
