Business of the Week - Iridology: Natural diagnosis of health from looking at your Iris

cornucopia 300CENTRAL CITY, Ky. (4/24/13) – Many people in Muhlenberg County may not know it, but Cornucopia 2 Health & More not only offers hundreds of types of natural oils, vitamins and even antibiotic-free eggs, but you can also get your eyes examined!

Owner Peggy Ford assists customers with purchases, and can explain just about any natural alternative there is.

Meanwhile, each Wednesday and Saturday at Cornucopia 2, Helen Tomlin sits quietly in a small room in the back of the store practicing Iridology. Those who practice Iridology believe that many health issues can be seen by close examination of the eye's iris.

According to Tomlin, the ongoing study and practice of Iridology is gaining in popularity. And she emphasized that it takes years of experience and research to do it correctly.

"I started studying Iridology about 6 years ago. I studied under Bernard Jensen, D.C., PH.D,, and Dr. Eugene C. Watkins, founder of Pure Herbs. I also took classes under David Pesek, Iridology is an ongoing study based on the analysis of one of the most complicated tissue structures of the whole body, the iris. By examining the iris, structure of the tissues in the iris, color changes will show, strengths, organ weaknesses, toxin accumulations and inherent strengths and weaknesses. Iridology is a wonderful preventative measure!" Tomlin said.

From a personal standpoint, this reporter has to admit, after giving Tomlin only basic medical information, she pointed out several of my personal health issues simply by looking at the coloration of various portions of my iris. She noted "the discoloration in the eyes showed acidity levels high due to stress and diet." Tomlin also diagnosed a mineral deficiency and low B12 levels.

Her suggestions for me?

"By taking the right minerals and herbs and improving diet and increasing water intake, this would nourish the adrenals and supply more energy. The abdominal wall shows in your eyes, which can lead to ulcers if stress is not addressed and by taking enzymes and probiotics, the heart also can become stronger by taking the right herbs. By increasing water intake you would help rid the body of toxins."

Tomlin added, "Iridology has become a love of mine, because I love seeing the improvement in people’s health! Which shows in their eyes and how they feel! It is a true blessing to have found this for me and my family’s health and now for the community."
