MADISONVILLE, KY (5/7/12) – Over the weekend, Madisonville Police Officials tended to an accident with injuries that led to DUI charges.
Officers were dispatched to the intersection of Hickory and Hanson Road. Once on the scene, officers deduced that Lacie McCormick had been traveling eastbound with a juvenile daughter, when she failed to yield right-of-way at the stop sign.
At the same time, Daniel Sotelo, with four passengers, was in the left lane and slammed his breaks on in an attempt to avoid McCormick’s vehicle. Sotelo’s vehicle hit McCormick’s, pushing it off into a ditch. According to police officials, one of the individuals in Sotelo’s vehicle fled the scene and was found a short time later, obviously under the influence of alcohol.
Sotelo was transported to RMC by Police for neck injuries, and then charged with DUI.
McCormick was transported to RMC, along with her daughter, for head/neck injuries. The daughter was released a short time later, but McCormick was life-flighted to Evansville due to the severity of her injuries.
