Grandparents’ Night Event at Library

grandparentsMADISONVILLE, KY (8/29/12) – In honor of Grandparent’s Day, the James Larmouth Family Resource Center (FRC) is hosting a “night of relaxation . . . to show how much grandparents are appreciated.”

Area grandparents and their grandchildren are invited to the Hopkins County-Madisonville Public Library on Thursday, September 6th at 6:00 PM for an evening of reading, games, and a trip down Memory Lane.

There will be light refreshments and door prizes followed by a reading of the book Dream: a Tale of Wonder, Wisdom & Wishes.

Grandparents and grandkids are asked to bring family photos, and Carrie Morse, scrapbooking guru, will assist with making a memory book.

The families will then test their knowledge of one another by answering questions about their past. Grandparents might be asked the exact day and time of their grandkids’ births, while the grandchildren might be challenged with the year of their grandparents’ graduation. Guess correctly (or close in some cases) and spin a wheel for special prizes.

The event is scheduled to last about an hour and a half, and guests should be done in plenty of time to get home for bedtime (it is a school night). Last year’s event drew about 30 visitors.

Janet Nichols, Coordinator of the FRC, is asking for grandparents to pre-register by September 3, 2012 by calling the FRC at (270) 825-6154 in order to plan for adequate supplies for this event.

This event is sponsored by the Hopkins County Cooperative Extension Service, Carrie Morse, South Hopkins Youth Service Center, Hopkins Co. Madisonville Public Library, Jesse Stuart Family Resource Center & James Larmouth Family Resource Center.
