MADISONVILLE, KY (11/13/12) – Over the past weekend an incident took place involving drugs, fleeing from police, and endangering the welfare of a child.
According to Madisonville Police Department (MPD) officials, Officer Tyrone Gregory attempted to conduct a traffic stop on 36-year-old Louis Coleman of Louisville Kentucky for speeding. Coleman refused to stop for Officer Gregory and proceeded to speed away.
The chase went on for several blocks through residential areas. Coleman finally stopped at the intersection of Montrose and Hillcrest and exited the vehicle. At that point, Coleman attempted to flee on foot. After a short chase, officers overtook Coleman and apprehended him.
Directly after the arrest, Coleman’s car was searched and Officers located a white powdery substance that was believed to be Cocaine. Officers also found that there was a small child in the vehicle.
The child was returned to the mother and Coleman was housed in the Hopkins County Jail on charges of Fleeing/Evading Police (Motor Vehicle), Fleeing/Evading Police (On Foot), Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Wanton Endangerment. Coleman was also served a Hopkins County warrant for Bond Withdrawal.
