tractor trailer 300HOPKINS COUNTY, Ky. (3/6/13) – On March 6, 2013 at approximately 3:37 AM, Hopkins County Central Dispatch received a report of a single semi-tractor trailer collision, involving injuries, on Interstate 69 at the 104 mile-marker.

The driver of the semi, Michael Avery, stated that he was traveling northbound when a deer entered his travel portion. The driver swerved to miss the deer, and entered the median. The semi traveled approximately one half mile in the median before losing control, and entering the southbound lanes. The semi struck a guardrail then continued to travel down an embankment on the West side of the roadway. The trailer blocked both southbound lanes of Interstate 69 for approximately two hours.

The driver was transported by Medical Center Ambulance Service to Baptist Health Emergency Room for treatment of his injuries.

Deputy Ryan Bailey was assisted on scene by South Hopkins Volunteer Fire Department, Medical Center Ambulance Service, and Hopkins County Emergency Management.
