MADISONVILLE, Ky. (3/9/13) – On Friday, March 8, at approximately 9:45 PM, Madisonville Police Department (MPD) officials responded to a report of an accident involving one vehicle on South Seminary Street.
Once on the scene, officers found that 53-year-old Kathy Shelley’s vehicle had been traveling south on South Seminary and struck an electric pole in front of 529 South Seminary. When officers arrived, Shelley’s vehicle was unoccupied and air bags had obviously deployed. As it turned out, Shelley had gone into a nearby home for help.
Upon contact with Shelley, officers noted that she was off-balance and had slurred speech. Shelley was given standardized field sobriety tests and, directly afterward, cited for Driving under the Influence. She was transported to Baptist Health for tests and treatment of possible injuries.
