Governor Beshear Honors Fallen Kentucky Soldier

flag cableFRANKFORT, Ky. (4/5/13) – Gov. Steve Beshear has directed that flags at all state office buildings be lowered to half-staff on Saturday, April 6, 2013, in honor of a Kentucky soldier who died while supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.
 
According to the Department of Defense, Sgt. Michael C. Cable, 26, of Philpot, Ky., died March 27, from injuries sustained when his unit was attacked by enemy forces in Shinwar District, Nangarhar Province, Afghanistan. He was assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 1st Battalion, 327th Infantry, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division, Fort Campbell, Ky.
 
Funeral services for Sgt. Cable will be held on April 6 at 1 p.m. Central time at Haley-McGuiness Funeral Home in Owensboro, Ky. Burial services will immediately follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Owensboro.
 
Gov. Beshear encourages individuals, businesses, organizations and government agencies to join in this tribute.
