MADISONVILLE, Ky. (5/3/13) – Last night, May 2, 2013, a community reception was held at the Madisonville – Hopkins County Chamber of Commerce for Donald Clayton.
Clayton’s teaching career has extended over 40 years. He started out as a teaching assistant at Murray State University in the fall of 1971, then moved on to teaching in the Hopkins County School System from 1973-1985.
Clayton taught at the Madisonville Junior High School in 1973, then transferred to Earlington High School (1973-1975). He then moved on to West Hopkins High School for the next ten years. In 1985, Clayton was offered a full-time teaching position in the math department at Madisonville Community College.
By Clayton’s calculations he has taught over 7,000 students, including those he has tutored in his career. Madisonville Community College will be saying good-bye to Clayton next week after finals.
SurfKY wants to congratulate Clayton for 40 plus years of amazing work. It takes a lot of passion, patience and dedication to be able to accomplish all that he has and to be able to reach out to students to help them better understand what they are learning, is truly a gift.
