MADISONVILLE, Ky. (6/25/13) – On Monday, June 24, at approximately 10:00 PM, Madisonville Police Officer Allan Stokes conducted a traffic stop that inevitably led to arrests on multiple charges, mainly drug-oriented.
During the initial stop, Officer Stokes observed an unlabeled pill bottle in the floor of the car. Stokes also noted that he observed the driver, 33-year-old Anthony Garrott of Island Ford Road, attempt to conceal a large bag of Marijuana under the dash of the vehicle.
Once additional units arrived on the scene, Stokes removed Garrott from the vehicle and detained him due to what Stokes described as “suspicious activity.” As Stokes walked Garrott to his police cruiser, Garrott dropped a plastic bag containing what appeared to be a large amount of suspected cocaine.
At that point, officers found it necessary to obtain a search warrant for Garrott’s residence at 1505 Island Ford Road. Once inside, further evidence was located in reference to drug trafficking. Officers found cash, drugs and weapons in the residence.
Garrott was arrested and charged with Trafficking in Controlled Substance X2, Trafficking Marijuana, Tampering with Physical Evidence and Speeding. Garrott is currently housed at the Hopkins County Detention Center.
