MADISONVILLE, Ky. (8/20/13) – After reading Lose & Associates' review of the last public hearing regarding the proposed Madisonville Mahr Park, the park committee refined areas for the architectural design firm to incorporate into park plans.
The review reiterated some of the comments gathered from the public hearing Tuesday, Aug. 13 at First Christian Church in Madisonville. Still, there were several key areas the committee identified for further review during its meeting Monday, Aug. 19.
"I'm still not seeing a trail named specifically for Mrs. Mahr," said committee member Barbie Hunt. "I have mentioned this before to Lose."
The committee also identified two other areas for further study - a larger buffer area between the walking trails and current residential areas and to rotate the placement of the proposed amphitheater at the park.
The location of the amphitheater as indicated on the current design draft indicates that the audience seating would face the west and the committee believes it should be rotated to a more north/south direction to accommodate late afternoon to evening events.
Madisonville Mayor David Jackson said the park should be done in phases and levels of phases for adaptability purposes.
