WHITE PLAINS, Ky. (8/21/13) – On Tuesday, August 20, Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) Deputies responded to a report of an accident in front of 156 Greenville Road in White Plains at approximately 4:02 PM.
Once on the scene, Deputies found that a 2002 Chevy pickup truck, operated by 66-year-old Harold Broyles of Muhlenberg County, had pulled out of a driveway in the path of a 2004 Dodge Neon, operated by 35-year-old Liberty Cooley of Earlington. Cooley was traveling west on Greenville Road at the time of the impact. Cooley’s vehicle struck the driver’s side door of Broyles vehicle. As a result of the impact, Broyles was thrown from the vehicle.
Both Broyles and Cooley were injured in the accident, along with two juvenile passengers in Cooley’s vehicle, a 10-year-old female and a 1-year-old male. All involved were transported to Baptist Hospital in Madisonville for treatment. Cooley and the male juvenile were listed in stable condition and Broyles and the female 10-year-old were both listed in critical condition. Broyles was flown to St. Mary’s Med Center for follow-up treatment.
The Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the White Plains Volunteer Fire Department.
