Around $202,000 in Projects Coming to Area

yonts d 300MADISONVILLE, Ky. (9/10/13) – A total of $201,920—including increased funding for early childhood intervention and funds to remove an old city hall—was approved today by the state legislative Government Contract Review Committee.

Rep. Brent Yonts, D- Greenville, a current member and former chairman of the committee, said the funding includes $100,000 in coal severance funds to demolish and remove the former Madisonville City Hall and prepare the site for redevelopment as green space and a public entertainment venue. The remaining funds are an increase in state and agency dollars awarded to the First Steps program from cost settlement dollars.

“Those funds will be administered by Pennyroyal Mental Health in Hopkinsville to continue the early intervention services for infants and toddlers with disabilities that the First Steps Program offers,” said Yonts.

Yonts said the committee’s work continuously passes necessary funds through to local communities through projects and services such as these.

“As always, I am pleased to be able to be a part of bringing these funds home,” said Yonts.
