MADISONVILLE, Ky. (9/17/13) – Madisonville Community College (MCC) is pleased to announce that David Mackey placed third in the Pre-Shift Contest during the 2013 National Coal Mine Rescue, First Aid, Bench and Pre-Shift Competition held in Columbus, Ohio on September 9-12.
Mackey also captured the first place Pre-Shift trophy for best finish in the state of Kentucky. Mackey is a member of the Kentucky Coal Academy (KCA) MCC Mine Rescue Team and is employed with KenAmerican Resources in Muhlenberg County. Under the direction of Danny Knott, MCC’s Director of Mine Rescue Training, the KCA MCC Mine Rescue Team also competed in the Bench, First Aid, and Mine Rescue contests during the 2013 national competition.
The 2013 National Coal Mine Rescue, First Aid, Bench and Pre-Shift Competition was sponsored by the National Mining Association. The competition had 87 teams with approximately 800 people participating in the team or individuals competitions from Alabama, Colorado, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, New Mexico, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Utah, Virginia, West Virginia and Wyoming.
