City of Madisonville Receives National Association of Development Organizations 2013 Innovation Award

gomadisonville 300MADISONVILLE, Ky. (9/26/13) – The City of Madisonville, Kentucky, received a 2013 Innovation Award from the National Association of Development Organizations (NADO) Research Foundation for the GO Madisonville Initiative at the 2013 NADO Annual Conference.

GO Madisonville, a comprehensive customer service initiative, was developed to create a one-stop information portal for Madisonville residents and businesses. Through the initiative, a website and smartphone application was created where residents can submit comments or concerns to city hall and learn about city programs/departments. The GO Madisonville website is available to the public 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for non-emergency issues. To date, over 1,860 requests have been served through the GO Madisonville office.

NADO is a Washington, DC-based association that promotes programs and policies that strengthen local governments, communities, and economies through regional cooperation, program delivery, and comprehensive strategies. The association’s Innovation Awards program recognizes organizations for improving the economic and community competitiveness of our nation’s regions and local communities.

The Innovation Award nomination was submitted by the Pennyrile Area Development District in Hopkinsville, Kentucky. “For nearly 30 years, NADO’s Innovation Award has recognized organizations for their hard work and dedication to promoting economic development in rural and small metropolitan communities across the country. Building on the unique strengths and challenges of each region and community, award recipients continue to promote sustainable economic growth not only now, but for many years to come,” said NADO President John Leonard, Executive Director of the Southern Georgia Regional Commission in Valdosta, GA.
