MNHHS Student Charged for Bringing Knife to School

(10/31/13) — A Madisonville-North Hopkins High School student has been arrested and jailed after coming to school under the influence of marijuana, according to the Madisonville Police Department. After authorities performed a search of his vehicle, the situation became more complicated, when a weapon was discovered.

Joe Martin, 18, of Hanson was charged with public intoxication in a public place and unlawful possession of a weapon on school property.

Police said the weapon found in Martin's vehicle was a knife. The arresting officer was Leslie Gregory.

He released on bond from Hopkins County Jail Wednesday.

Martin made the news on Jan. 16, when he was involved in a head on collision on Stagecoach Road involving Luann Haywood and David Haywood. David Haywood died the following day.
