Book It 2013: Racing to Spread the Joy of Reading

race1 300MADISONVILLE, Ky. (11/18/13) – The second annual Book It 5k and one-mile fun walk was held at the Baptist Health Fitness Formula on Saturday, Nov. 16 for the Hopkins County Literacy Celebration for March 2014.

The course started out at the Baptist Health Fitness Formula and traveled through downtown Madisonville. The one-mile fun walk started immediately after the 5k at the Trover Wellness Park. All children from birth to high school seniors, who took part in the race were presented with a book at the finish line. First and second place awards were given for each age division.

The purpose of this race was not only to raise money for the March 2014 Hopkins County Literacy Celebration, but also to raise the awareness of literacy and the importance of reading.
