Texting, Driving Stop Ends in Meth Arrest

arrest scottMADISONVILLE, Ky. (12/18/13) ― A traffic stop for texting and driving violations resulted in the arrest of a Madisonville man for possession of methamphetamines.

According to the Madisonville Police Department, Officer Justin  Jones was traveling south on Main Street Dec. 17 when he noticed a male driver texting while driving.

Jones reported that the driver had dilated pupils, rapid speech and smelled of marijuana.

James Scott, 27, was charged with driving a motor vehicle texting violation, drivers license not in possession, failure to produce insurance card, operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol/drugs, first offense, drug paraphernalia buy/possess, and possession of controlled substance, first degree, first offense (methamphetamine). He is being lodged in the Hopkins County Jail.
