MADISONVILLE, Ky. (12/19/13) — Friends and family gathered Saturday, Dec. 14 at Byrnes Auditorium in Madisonville to honor the 20th graduating class of the Baptist Health/Murray State University Program of Nurse Anesthesia. The program is dedicated to graduating nurse anesthetists of the highest professional competency residing in a rural area who are committed to returning to rural areas to practice.
The commencement address was given by Ron Wilson, CRNA, and clinical instructor at Baptist Health Madisonville. The Special Recognition Clinical Excellence was awarded to Joshua Lee from the Madisonville site and to Heather Hazelrigg and Amanda Crafton from the Morehead site. The Agatha Hodgins Award for Outstanding Academic achievement went to Lori Heald.
The graduates honored Ron Wilson as Outstanding Clinical Instructor of the Year and Ohio County as the Outstanding Clinical Site of the year. 18 graduates will sit for the NBCRNA Certification Examination and have secured employment at various locations across Kentucky and other southern states.
