NORTONVILLE, Ky. (12/21/13) ― Six people were injured during a two-vehicle collision at 5:56 p.m. Friday, Dec. 20 on the Pennyrile Parkway in Hopkins County.
According to a Kentucky State Police report, Sarah Hancock, 31, of Nortonville was driving a 2006 Buick south on the parkway while Faith Draper, 56, of Manning, S.C. was driving a 2009 Dodge Journey also headed south in the adjacent lane.
Hancock slammed on her brakes when she saw a smoking vehicle sitting on the side of the road, the report said. She lost control of her vehicle and collided into Draper's vehicle at about mile marker 33.
Both vehicles came to rest facing east blocking both lanes of travel. Hancock and her passengers, Lillian Cowan, 5, and Daisey Cowen, 4; and, Draper and her passengers, Stanley Wade, 53, of Leesville, Ky., and Priscilla Worthington, 57, of Grand Rivers, were taken to Baptist Health in Madisonville for observation. Both drivers and all passengers were wearing seatbelts.
The investigating officer was Trooper Joe Bartolotti. He was assisted by Nathan Craft, Sgt. Daniel White, the Hopkins County Fire and Rescue and Hopkins County EMS. Bartolotti's investigation is continuing.
