MADISONVILLE, Ky. (12/30/13) — Madisonville Police received a complaint from an employee at Pappy’s store on Grapevine Road that a man was driving a car while intoxicated and almost collided into the side of the building.
According to the Madisonville Police report, when officers arrived at the scene they found the man hanging out the window on the driver side of the vehicle. The man allegedly offered the clerk some pills as payment for his soda pop, the report said.
James David Brown, 58, was charged with possession of open alcoholic beverage container in motor vehicle prohibited, operating a motor vehicle under influence of alcohol/drugs, second offense, possession of controlled substance, second degree, drug unspecified and carrying a concealed deadly weapon.
During a search of Brown's vehicle, officers found an open bottle of bourbon in the floor board and two metal containers that held several pills. There were 36 suspected Xanax and several crushed pills of suspected hydrocodone. Officers also found a large knife under the driver’s seat.
Brown is currently being lodged in the Hopkins County Jail.
