MADISONVILLE, Ky. (2/2/14) ― After a Madisonville Police Officer stopped a Dodge Avenger with heavily tinted windows headed south on Lunsford Street, a Madisonville man was charged for possession of cocaine and marijuana Friday, Jan. 31.
According to a Madisonville Police Department report, MPD Officer Ryan Clark stopped the car driven by Lorenzo Drone, 22, of East Lake Road, at 5:43 p.m. for the excessive tint on the car's windows. Clark reported that Drone appeared nervous, which prompted him to request consent to search the vehicle.
Drone refused to grant consent, the report said. Then, MPD Patrolman Blake Carlisle arrived on the scene with K-9 Unit Diego. While the K-9 officer performed a walk around the vehicle, he targeted it for drugs. A search of the vehicle resulted in the discovery of several bags of marijuana and an “8 Ball” of crack cocaine.
The marijuana weighed 59.9 grams and the cocaine weighed 3.5 grams, according to the report.
Drone was charged with possession of a controlled substance/cocaine and possession of marijuana. He was lodged in the Hopkins County Detention Center.
