Grammy-Award Winning Cellist to Perform in Madisonville

SantambrogioSara Sant’ Ambrogio, Grammy Award-winning cellist, performs at the Glema Mahr Chamber Music Series Thursday Feb. 27. MADISONVILLE, Ky. (2/25/14) - Sara Sant’ Ambrogio has performed as a founding member of Eroica Trio at Carnegie Hall, but on Thursday, Feb. 27, she will perform her classical hits for crowds as a soloist, accompanied by Pianist Robert Koenig, at the Glema Mahr Center for the Arts.

Grammy Award-winner Sant’ Ambrogio received international attention when she won the Eighth International Tchaikovsky Violoncello Competition in Moscow, Russia.

She has performed along with orchestras from Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, and as far away as Beijing, Budapest, Prague and Tokyo.

Sant' Ambrogio, who recently relocated to Nashville, Tenn., will perform many of her personal favorites including the Chapin Waltz, Requiebros, and Oblivion, at the Glema Mahr Chamber Music Series Thursday evening.

“She is just so stylish…she brings a real passion to the cello,” said Brad Downall, director of the Glema Mahr Center for the Arts.

Sant’ Ambrogio will perform 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Feb. 27.
