'Pi Day' A Celebration at MCC

pi day 1Photos Provided by Joyce Riggs

MADISONVILLE, Ky. (3/7/14) — Madisonville Community College commemorated an early “Pi Day” (actual day is March 14), an occasion dedicated to the term in mathematics to represent a constant - the ratio of the circumference of a circle to its diameter — which is approximately 3.14159.

Students and teachers participated in activities including the “Perfect Pie Contest”, a pie-by-the slice sale, a whole pie silent auction, and ended with a “Pie-in-the Face” contest.

All proceeds from “Pi Day” will be donated to a local elementary school’s backpack program.

This program serves area children by providing food items for the weekend to students in need who qualify for free or reduced lunch, says Joyce Riggs, Director of Public Relations at MCC.
