father-daughter-1GREENVILLE, Ky. (3/12/14) — Old National Bank's Father - Daughter Dance, held Saturday March 8 at Greenville's First Baptist Church, was a huge success, according to one of the coordinators, Karen Smith.

"Not only was it a huge success, but all the funds will go for a great cause, the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life," Smith told SurfKY News. "The dance raised thousands of dollars to help in fight against cancer. We are still counting all the money that came in, and yes, we did very well. Attendance was up from last year. We had approximately 425 in attendance in 2013. This year we had around 450, so it was a very good year."

The yearly event featured refreshments, music, and fathers and daughters of all ages enjoying a memorable night together. One of the many highlights of the night, Smith said, was the balloon drop.

"We dropped hundreds of balloon from the balcony, and the girls just had a ball," Smith said.

Smith commended her fellow employees, who spent several days decorating the church's fellowship hall, along with manning the refreshment area, and the many other responsibilities involved in such a huge undertaking. Smith also thanked the many sponsors who helped in making the night a success.  

"We had a lot of great sponsors," Smith said. "As a community, everyone just seems to pull together. I look at it as not just something for the fathers and daughters, but a real community effort where everyone pitches in."

Several prizes were given away during the night, including a VIP Princess Package, that included a limo ride to and from Phillys for a candlelight dinner.

The winners were Madison and Morgan Law, along with their father Teddy Law, and Jessie Blakeley and her father Gregg Blakeley.
