(3/13/14) — The Historic District Commission approved to demolish the old City Hall building located at 35 East Center Street in a 4-3 vote Tuesday.

Since the building is a historic property, the City of Madisonville appointed the Historic District Commission to be made aware of the project. The City of Madisonville has received coal severance funding from the County to make the project happen.

Once demolished the lot will be used for public parking spots.

The City Council will hear the request to solicit bids for the demo at Monday night's council meeting.

Bill Jackson, City Engineer, will be making the formal request, according to Daron Jordan, Community Development Director.
