Alleged Shoplifter Throws Kicking Fit in Police Cruiser

Tammy JoTammy Jo WardMADISONVILLE, Ky. (3/28/14) — Madisonville Police responded to a theft incident at Peebles department store Thursday, March 27.

According to the Madisonville Police report, Tammy Jo Ward, 46, was observed by loss prevention personnel of taking jewelry from packages and placing them in different locations in the store.

The report said Ward made a shoe purchase, however, she placed a $16 ring inside the shoes that she did not pay for. The ring was located outside the store after passing all points of payment.

Upon officers arrival, Ward became very uncooperative and cursed an officer close to his face. She was then placed in the back of the police car, where she continued to be a disturbance by kicking the interior of the vehicle, the report said.

Ward had been arrested two weeks prior for same offense and has been arrested several times in the past for shoplifting, the report said.

Ward is charged with theft by unlawful taking – shoplifting, menacing and disorderly conduct, second degree.
