DUE TO HEAVY SNOWS IN WESTERN KENTUCKY...WIDESPREAD 6 TO 12 INCH SNOWFALL AMOUNTS HAVE HAULTED AREA TRAVEL. ISOLATED 15 INCH AMOUNTS HAVE BEEN REPORTED. kentucky trans yellow 300MUHLENBERG COUNTY, Ky. (4/1/14) — A contractor for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet plans to restrict traffic to one lane along Kentucky 853 in Muhlenberg County starting Wednesday, April 2, 2014.

Work starting Wednesday includes base repairs along Kentucky 853 from mile point 0.0 at the Kentucky 189 intersection to mile point 6.854 at the Drake Road intersection.

The base repairs along this section will then be allowed to settled for about a week with asphalt paving tentatively scheduled to start Thursday, April 9.

Paving along this section is expected to take two to three days to complete, weather permitting.

Motorists who regularly travel this section of Kentucky 853 should be prepared to encounter one lane traffic with alternating flow controlled by flaggers. Appropriate caution is required were equipment and construction personnel are along the roadway in close proximity to traffic flow.

Road Builders is the prime contractor on this $771,530 group repair and paving project, which also includes paving along Kentucky 2270.
