mpdMADISONVILLE, Ky. (4/4/14) — The Madisonville Police Department will be using an extra $10,000 in federal grant money to help reduce accidents attributed to distracted driving.

The department was awarded the grant through the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, Division of Highway Safety. The grant will be used to reduce accidents through enforcement and education about distracted driving.

MPD is reminding motorists that it is unsafe and is a violation of state law to write, send or read text-based communication while in motion on the roadway.
