HOPKINS COUNTY, Ky. (4/7/14) — The Hopkins County Attorney's office is reporting a “slam dunk” $20,000 surge in child support collections in Hopkins County during its “March Mania” program featuring fliers with a “most wanted” list of child support offenders on pizza boxes.
According to a press release from the County Attorney's office, January and February collections were approximately $350,000 each.
In March, the “most wanted” fliers were attached to the pizza boxes from Godfather's Pizza, Rocksan's Pizza, Quality Pizza and Hobo Mickey's Pizza. The campaign, led by Assistant County Attorney Shaun McEntire, took place during the NCAA tournament in hopes of gathering information on those with outstanding warrants while increasing collections for the children of Hopkins County.
During March, nearly $370,000 in collections were received, which enables the Hopkins County Child Support Unit to continue being one of the top performing units in the state, according to the release. The unit received the Outstanding Child Support Performance Award for the past five years. With more than $1,000,000 collected for the first quarter of 2014, the unit is ranked 20th out of 120 counties for current child support collections.
McEntire credited her team and community support for the results.
“It's exciting to see community involvement in helping to get the job done,” stated McEntire in the release. “You can't continue to win without a consistent team of great players.”
