MADISONVILLE, Ky. (4/11/14) — Madisonville Police responded to a complaint from the staff at Burger King Thursday, April 10 because of suspected counterfeit money being used.

According to the Madisonville Police report, officers were advised by Burger King management personnel that a couple attempted to pass a counterfeit $100 bill.

When the manager advised the couple that the money was counterfeit, they fled the scene in a white Chevy truck. The manager gave police the couple’s license plate number and officers were able to identify them as Gwendolyn Ann Browning, 34, and Douglas Paul Browning, 48.

After the manager identified the couple, officers tracked them to Nortonville, where they were stopped. The couple advised officers they fled the scene because they panicked because the police were going to be involved, the report said.

Gwendolyn was charged with criminal possession of forged instrument, first degree.

Douglas was charged with criminal possession of forged instrument, first degree.

Both are being lodged in the Hopkins County Jail.
