accident injuries amb 300MADISONVILLE, Ky. (4/18/14) — A Madisonville teenager was injured during a collision caused by excessive speed while plugging in a cell phone to the radio.

According to a Madisonville Police Department report, Whitney A. Stoker, 16, of Madisonville, was driving a 2000 Mazada passenger car west on West Noel Avenue at an excessive rate of speed.

The report said Stoker was also plugging her cell phone into the radio, when she exited the right shoulder of the road. Her vehicle struck a mailbox, culvert and then went airborne for approximately 45 feet, the report said.

After traveling west in the right ditch line, her vehicle struck a telephone pole breaking it off. The total distance traveled off the roadway was 228 feet.

Stoker was transported to Baptist Health by Medical Center Ambulance. Patrolman Russell Nichols was assisted at the scene by Patrolman Justin Jones and the Madisonville Fire Department.
