Top Secrets of 'Planned Giving' Seminar Scheduled

Mark-B.-WeaverMark B. Weaver Tri-State Donor Motivation PresidentHOPKINS COUNTY, Ky. (4/26/14) — The YMCA, United Way, Madisonville Community College, and the City of Madisonville will host an informational seminar in their effort to increase awareness of "Planned Giving," its opportunities to the donor and the lasting effects on the community, April 29.

A seminar was originally scheduled for February of this year, but was rescheduled due to icy road conditions.

“This event will not focus on the organizations, but rather on the attendees. We are not asking you to open up your pocketbooks. We are providing opportunities for you to learn how you can protect your family and your wealth,” shared Dr. Judith Rhoads, President of Madisonville Community College.

Invited by the four nonprofit organizations, Tri-State Donor Motivation President Mark B. Weaver will share with attendees how to increase income, give less to the IRS and give more to heirs. Weaver says that the mega-wealthy use principles and planning that most people don’t know about. He doesn’t think this information should be kept from anyone. Individuals should take this information and have a conversation with their trusted advisers about the legacy they want to leave.

“Wealth,” Weaver says, “Comes in three forms – financial, personal and social. And with wealth, people have the ability to leave a 'lifeprint' of significance to the people, causes and institutions they care most about.”

Attendees will discover how they can leave a legacy of not just their money, but also a lasting legacy of their values.

“With this initiative, we are focused on long-term, perpetuated giving that will continue on to our grandchildren’s children. We want individuals and families to have a non-confrontational setting to learn about their options. If you are interested in leaving the world a better place for your family and community, there’s nothing better you could be doing April 29 And, we’ll have food, too!” said Ed Wallace, Executive Director of the Hopkins County Family YMCA.

“We are so very thankful for our donors. This event is not about soliciting donations, and in fact, we will not even be accepting donations at the event. The mission here is giving back to our donors and stimulating more conversation about the legacy they want to leave,” stated Chip Tate, Executive Director United Way of the Coalfield.

There will be absolutely no solitication of gifts at these events, and attendees are asked to take notes and bring the conversation back to their trusted professional advisers. The nonprofits involved intend to provide an educational experience for the community and stimulate conversations about the legacy individuals and families can leave.

Presentation and hors d'oeuvres will begin 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 29, on the eighth floor of the Baptist Health Tower (200 Clinic Drive in Madisonville).
