DSC 0011-001MADISONVILLE, Ky. (4/26/14) - "Proud to be a Democrat" are what the red, white, and blue printed signs said around the Ballard Convention Center when members of the Democratic Party of Kentucky gathered Saturday night for the annual Ruby Laffoon Dinner.

Governor Steve Beshear nor Secretary of State Alison Lundergan Grimes were in attendance, but there was still a rather large crowd gathered to hear Hopkins County and state Democratic candidates speak.

"This represents a strong support for the Democratic candidates," said Rep. Brent Yonts.

Keynote speaker included Jerry Rhoads, 6th District Senator, and there was recognition of county, city, legislative and judicial candidates in Hopkins County.

Hopkins County will hold a primary election on May 20.
