Ky. 281/Island Ford Road Receives More Damage From Rains

road closed orange 300MADISONVILLE, Ky. (4/29/14) — The Kentucky Transportaton Cabinet has closed Kentucky 281/Island Ford Road in northern Hopkins County between Kentucky 1003 and Kentucky 138.

Kentucky 281 has been restricted to one lane near the 14 mile marker for several weeks due to erosion and land slippage damage of an almost two-mile section of the levee.

Over the last two days, there has been additional land slippage along the levee that has created safety issues prompting engineers to close the road to all through traffic until further notice.

Local access will be provided to property owners on each side of the closure point.

Engineers are continuing to formulate a repair plan. Repairs are expected to begin with a few weeks, according to the KYDOT.
