drug-arrest-tysonMADISONVILLE, Ky. (5/5/14) — A Madisonville man has been arrested after a two-month investigation by the Madisonville Police Department Narcotics Unit in cooperation with the U.S. Postal Service.

According to an MPD report, a search warrant was executed Friday, May 2 in reference to suspicious packages that were addressed to 1972 Brett Drive, Madisonville. Detectives attempted to make contact with the resident, John Tyson, at the front door of the residence but he refused to open it, and barricaded himself in the back bedroom.

After negotiation with detectives, Tyson surrendered and was taken into custody without further incident.

Nearly 2.5 pounds of marijuana, $2,164 in cash and paraphernalia consistent with drug trafficking were seized at the residence.

Tyson was charged with trafficking in marijuana, eight ounces to less than five pounds, possession of a controlled substance, third degree, and resisting arrest. He was also served with two outstanding warrants, and is being lodged in the Hopkins County Jail.

Crysta Coble was present at the time of the incident and was found to be in possession of a small amount of marijuana.

She was cited to court and released.
