Entrance to Mahr Park to be Surveyed

trails bicycleMADISONVILLE, Ky. (5/5/14) — The Mahr Park Committee will meet with David Lose of Lose & Associates Tuesday, May 6 to survey the entrance road to the park.

The park is named after Madisonville's Glema Mahr, who passed away in 2009. After her death, city officials were advised that Mahr had bequeathed her 265-acre farm to the City of Madisonville to be made into a public park.

Phase One of the project is already underway and is projected to take 36 months to complete. It will include writing grants, producing signage, flower gardens, gravel parking, dog park and playground.

Phase Two will consist of building an amphitheater, golf courses, gardens, orchards and parking.

Phase Three will include extending the park road, developing Lake Pee Wee, trails and boardwalk.

The Mahr Park will be located in the southeastern quadrant of Madisonville.
