Tree Board Recommends Madisonville's Official City Tree

Mahr Tree meetingMembers of Madisonville Tree Board discuss city tree nomination Thursday, May 8 at the Glema Mahr home at Mahr Park.

MADISONVILLE, Ky. (5/8/14) — The Madisonville City Tree Board voted to recommend the Eastern Redbud as the official city tree at Thursday's board meeting.

The tree was nominated by newly elected Chairman of the Board Chris Delschlager. Delschlager suggested the Redbud because she said it is fast growing, adaptable, and does not carry a lot of diseases.

The next step in the decision-making process will be to send the recommendation to the city to be voted upon in an upcoming meeting.
