MADISONVILLE, Ky. (5/30/14) — The Madisonville Police Department Narcotics Unit assisted the U.S. Marshal's Service Wednesday, May 28 in locating a man that had been arrested in March and was wanted for federal probation violation.
A warrant was issued for Eric Melton, who was located at 613 East Broadway in Madisonville. The warrant was issued in reference to federal charges from a large-scale methamphetamine trafficking investigation performed through a joint effort of MPD, the Drug Enforcement Agency, U.S. Postal Inspectors, the Evansville-Vanderburg Task Force in Evansville, Ind., the Kentucky State Police and the Internal Revenue Service.
In March, MPD reported Melton and his criminal associates allegedly distributed drugs through western Kentucky especially in Hopkins County.During a one-year period, it is estimated that Melton was responsible for distributing at least 30 pounds of methamphetamine at an estimated street value of $1.3 million, the report said.
