MADISONVILLE, Ky. (6/2/14) — The Madisonville Police will be hosting its first MPD Football Camp from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. starting July 12 at Browning Springs Middle School with hopes that it becomes an annual event.
“We have a really good selection of coaches,” said Lt. Josh Mitchell. “Some have played in college, and most of the coaches are either from the Madisonville Police Department or the Hopkinsville Police Department.”
Mitchell said that the camp is free and includes a T-shirt and lunch.
“This is a great opportunity for kids,” said Mitchell. “It is a skilled program, taught by highly trained coaches, plus it is free. You can’t beat that.”
There is limited space and they are only taking the first 50 who apply.
“For our first year, we are limiting it to 50 kids,” said Mitchell. “We also need all applications in by June 20 to make sure everyone gets a t-shirt and we have enough lunch.”
The deadline for the application is 4 p.m. Friday, June 20, and must be turned in to the Madisonville Police Department.
“Applications can be turned into officers William Roundtree or Tyrone Gregory,” said Mitchell. “They can also be turned into me here at the office Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.”For more information, call Mitchell at (270) 821-1720.
