crabtree-arrestMADISONVILLE, Ky. (6/3/14) — During a video interview with Madisonville Police, a South Main Street BP gas station employee confessed Monday, June 1 to taking the store's deposits from the safe.

According to a Madisonville Police report, Clairesa Louise Crabtree, 28, Madisonville advised police that she opened the store safe at 4 p.m., Sunday, June 1 and placed the deposit envelopes into a box. She then took the box and went out into the general retail area.

Crabtree advised police that she removed the deposit envelopes from the box and placed them into her purse, the report said.

The report said Crabtree advised police that she wasn’t sure how much she had taken or how much she had spent, but gave the remainder of the money — a total of $1,100 — to police. The store manager told police that $2,773.48 was taken from the deposits out of the safe, according to the report.

Crabtree was charged with theft by unlawful taking under $10,000.

She is being lodged in the Hopkins County Jail.
