HOPKINS COUNTY, Ky. (6/3/14) — Information received in May regarding an attempt to end the life of an unborn child resulted in the arrest of a Madisonville teen Monday, June 2 on East Center Street.
According to Hopkins County District Court records and the Madisonville Police Department reports, Daylyn L. Jones, 19, of Madisonville, brought a slushy drink to his pregnant girlfriend May 18 with a large amount of crushed Ibuprofen added to it in the attempt to cause a miscarriage.
During a video interview with the Madisonville Police, Jones admitted to tainting the drink with the intent of terminating the pregnancy without the mothers knowledge.
A sample of the drink was sent to the KSP crime lab, where it was determined that there was ibuprofen in it to terminate the pregnancy. Although the mother drank a little of the slushy, she and the baby are well.
Jones was charged with attempted first-degree fetal homicide, which is a Class B felony. He is being lodged in the Hopkins County Jail on a $250,000 cash bond.His preliminary hearing has been set for 9 a.m. Friday, June 6 at the Hopkins County Judicial Center.
