Apartment Complex Storage Area Catches Fire

MADISONVILLE, Ky. (7/5/14) — A fire at 156 Seminary Street in Madisonville early Saturday morning destroyed a storage area in the apartment complex.  Major Fry of the Madisonville fire department said while there were a lot of fireworks on the scene, the cause of the fire had not been determined.

Elizabeth Woodruff, a resident of the apartment complex, spoke with SurfKY News about the fire.

"I saw children playing with the fireworks, and one of the fireworks flew into the storage area and started the fire," said Woodruff.

There were many used and unused fireworks littering the ground outside the scene of the fire.  Residents of the complex returned to their apartments as the fire department quickly had the scene under control.
