MADISONVILLE, Ky. (7/17/14) — Madisonville Police were dispatched to Walmart for a theft in progress Wednesday, July 16.
According to the Madisonville Police report, after officers arrived at Walmart, they were informed Sara Jo Mayer, 31, Madisonville, had left the store allegedly without paying for merchandise totaling $131.33.
Officers were also advised that Mayer was riding on a mobile cart and concealed some items in her purse and a frozen pie behind her feet. WalMart's asset protection was able to identify Mayer’s vehicle, and a traffic stop was conducted.
The report said that during the investigation, Mayer gave police consent to search her purse for stolen merchandise. Inside her purse, officers found a small silver container with four green pills and two oval blue pills inside. A call to poison control identified the green pills to be Clonazepam.
Mayer told police she had prescription for them, but had no proof at the time, the report said.Mayer was charged with theft by unlawful taking under $500, prescription controlled substance not in original container, first offense and promoting contraband, first degree.
