The Young Eagles in conjunction with the Experimental Airplane Association and the Muhlenberg County Airport Board are offering these free rides to help encourage children to take an interest in aviation.
A.P. Pollock, a member of the Muhlenberg Airport Board, said that there will be between six to eight airplanes available for the rides. The pilots participating in the event are donating their time and their planes.
Board members and the pilots believe it is important to encourage children to think about aviation as a career as there will always be a need for pilots, said Pollock.
Registration for the event starts at 8 a.m. with flights starting at 9 a.m.Although the flights are scheduled to stop at noon, pilots will continue to fly until all registered children have received their free flight.
