ST. CHARLES, Ky. (7/25/14) — A vehicle struck a lawn mower on U.S. 62 at approximately 10:42 p.m. Monday, July 23 near St. Charles.
According to a Hopkins County Sheriff's Office report, Deputy Mike Evans responded to the call at the scene near The River Church, where Donnie Mannahan, 53, White Plains was driving a riding lawn mower on the eastbound lane. The mower had no lights nor reflectors.
Charles Hackney, 26, Nortonville, was also headed east in a 1995 Jeep and struck the mower because he was unable to see it, the report said.
Mannahan was knocked off the mower, which exited the roadway and landed in the grass. Hackney also ran off the road and ended up in a field, according to the report.
Mannahan was transported by Medical Center Ambulance to Baptist Health for non-life threatening injuries. Hackney was not injured.South Hopkins Fire and Rescue assisted at the scene.
