EARLINGTON, Ky. (7/25/14) — A pickup truck was struck by a train at the Westside Avenue crossing at about 4:20 p.m. Friday, July 25.
"Someone tried to beat the train," said Deputy Heath Owens of the Hopkins County Sheriff's Department. "He didn't win."
The driver of the truck did not sustain any injuries and was not carrying any passengers. His name has not yet been released.
According to Owens, the train will remain stopped on the tracks for a couple of hours, as federal railroad police are required to investigate the event.
Those needing to cross the tracks may do so at Bell's Crossing. Pedestrians are not permitted to cross through the train.
